About Us

Hi!

First and foremost, thank you for being curious about us! I'm the founder, Crystal Creighton. Although born and raised in Montreal, QC, I now live nestled on the Northern coast of Nova Scotia with my beautiful warrior princess daughter, Emery. My journey has led me to Salved and my hopes are that Salved products end up in your journey, too!

Salved Body Nourishment’s core product line, once called "Emerything Baby", was created and centered around pregnancy and infancy. Emery, having being born with CDH (congenital diaphragmatic hernia) and beating 50/50 odds at life, is my muse and my reason. I wanted product that was gentle yet impactful for both her and I, without any fillers, toxins, additives, fragrances, hormones disruptors or plastics. Each and every product is personally formulated using my aromatherapy background as a foundation, and is tried and tested by myself, Emery, friends and family members for years before being released into your beautiful hands.

Just for fun, here is logo journey:

Our product line evolved, as did our logos and company name, and now encompasses product for all ages, all walks of life, and aides with multiple ailments. For example, our magnesium creams are used on sleepy babies, body builders, those in need of hip replacements, kiddos with growing pains, people dealing with arthritis, ER doctors with tension, party-goers who danced the night away, those simply looking for a healthy magnesium supplement, and many more. For me, a self-proclaimed "hybrid" of sorts, this warms my heart! Some things never change though, and each and every product is still hand-made with love and is personally whipped and poured right here in Canada.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us! If you have any questions, I truly am an open book and would love to respond to your personal inquiries. Send us an email at info@salved.ca or a DM on IG or FB!

With gratitude,

Crystal (& Emery)

A little bit more about Emery and CDH:

Emery was diagnosed at 20 weeks gestation with CDH, a rare condition affecting as little as 0.01% of babies. A congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) occurs when the diaphragm (a thin sheet of muscle that separates the abdomen from the chest) does not form properly. When a diaphragmatic hernia occurs, the abdominal organs move into and develop in the chest instead of remaining in the abdomen. With the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs all taking up space in the chest, the lungs do not have space to develop properly. This often causes the lungs to be small and underdeveloped, and can lead to many other life-threatening problems.⁣

Although many infants spend months in the NICU receiving care if they survive, Emery's team at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was advanced and performed her life-saving surgery on day 5 of life. On day 10, I was finally able to hold my baby girl in my arms, and I never wanted to put her down. On day 13, Emery was miraculously discharged. I thank the team @childrensphila every day for my beautiful Emery.⁣
